What’s changing

We’re making three improvements to Therapeutic Interchange to make it easier and safer to configure and use:

Full payer name visibility in payer rules

When creating a payer rule, search results now display the full payer name and identifier instead of a shortened display field with an incomplete view of the value.

Brand name display for single-brand medications

When a medication in a therapeutic group has only one available brand, that brand name is now shown alongside the drug in parentheses. This applies only when there’s no ambiguity, e.g., a single available brand.

Dose alignment with pre-checked orders

When there are multiple orders with different doses in a regimen template and a rule then triggers a substitution within that medication’s therapeutic group, the order selected for the substituted medication will align with the dose of the pre-checked order in the template when available.

Why this matters

Together, these updates reduce the risk of configuration and order selection errors in Therapeutic Interchange:

• Full payer name visibility helps users confidently select the correct payer when building rules, reducing misconfiguration.
• Brand name display gives clinicians immediate, unambiguous confirmation of the medication being selected, cutting down on extra verification steps during regimen ordering and review.
• Order selection aligned with the pre-checked option in a template with multiple orders for the medication closes a gap where substitutions could unintentionally override the pre-checked dosing decision, ensuring the substituted medication reflects the intended dose.
