Charge Capture Report: Administration code correction for IV Push drugs Copied

What’s changing

When therapeutic or chemotherapy IV drugs were administered via the IV Push (IVP) route, the system was not applying administration codes based on the duration of administration.

After this release, the Charge Capture Report will differentiate IV Push charges by duration, consistent with how IV Piggyback (IVPB) drugs have always been handled.

The updated logic for IV Push drugs is as follows:

  • 15 minutes or less: A Push administration code is captured based on the drug’s J-code
  • More than 15 minutes: Infusion administration codes are captured, consistent with IV Piggyback (IVPB) behavior

Why this matters

Incorrect administration codes can result in claim denials and inaccurate reimbursement. By aligning IV Push duration-based logic with the existing IV Piggyback behavior, iKnowMed captures the correct administration code for every IV Push order, reducing the risk of billing errors and downstream claim corrections.
