Practice Insights is pleased to announce updates in the application to support the Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).
MIPS Quality Measures Dashboard
Benchmark Updates
The MIPS Quality Measures Dashboard has been updated to reflect 2022 CMS National Benchmark updates for all applicable Quality Measures. This includes a benchmark for:
- PIMSH-1: Advance Care Planning in Metastatic Cancer
- PIMSH-4: Patient-Reported Pain Improvement
- PIMSH-9: Supportive Care Drug Utilization in the Last 14 Days of Life
- PIMSH-10: Hepatitis B Serology Testing and Prophylactic Treatment Prior to Receiving anti-CD20 Targeting Drugs
The following MIPS measures do not have a benchmark for 2022:
- MIPS#226: Tobacco Screening and Cessation
- MIPS#238: High-Risk Medications in the Elderly
- MIPS#450: Appropriate Treatment for Patients with Stage 1 (T1c) – III Breast Cancer Receiving Adjuvant Chemo
- MIPS#451: Colorectal Cancer Patients RAS Mutation Testing Performed
- MIPS#452: Colorectal Patients with RAS Mutation Spared Treatment
- MIPS#PIMSH2: Utilization of GCSF in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
- MIPS#PIMSH8: Mutation Testing for Lung Cancer Completed prior to start of Targeted Therapy
The Practice Insight Avg. % Performance Rate column will be updated to reflect the 2022 Q1 data. This information will also be included in the 2022 QCDR feedback report for Q1 which will be sent soon.
eCQM Value Set Updates
The eCQM value sets have also been updated to all measures. Practices may notice an increase in denominators and changes to numerators to the following measures due to the inclusion of additional CPT codes. The measures with a higher degree of change have the associated CPT codes listed.
- Current Medications Documentation
- 99211: Office or other outpatient visit for the evaluation and management of an established patient that may not require the presence of a physician
- High-Risk Medications in the Elderly – Multiple Medications (Inverse Measure)
- 98966, 99867, and 99868: Telephone assessment and management service provided by a qualified nonphysician health care professional to an established patient
- 99421, 99422, and 99423: Online digital evaluation and management service, for an established patient
- 99441 and 99442: for a telephone E&M visit
- G2010:- Remote evaluation of recorded video and/or images submitted by an established patient (e.g., store and forward), including interpretation with follow-up with the patient within 24 business hours, not originating from a related e/m service provided within the previous 7 days
- G2012: Brief communication technology-based service
- Pain Care Plan
- Pain Intensity Quantified
- Patient-reported Pain Improvement
- Tobacco Screening

The Q1 2022 Time Period selection will be available Monday, April 25, 2022 from the Time Period drop down.
OCM Quality Measures Dashboard
A technical refinement for the OCM dashboard was made to assure data within the Summary Page and the Provider Level Detail Page “All Providers” line displays the data in the same manner. The Summary Page and the “All Providers” line item as well as the Pie Chart on the Provider Level Detail Page will now match.
Status of Dashboard Updates for 2022
CMS releases updates to the quality measure specifications annually for the MIPS program and bi-annually for the OCM program. These measure specifications have been reviewed and Practice Insights is currently working on the required technical updates to align with the revised requirements. McKesson will continue to notify practices once measures have been updated based on the current 2022 requirements. The measures listed below either have no 2022 update required or have been updated.
